How do we approach the world?

We want to cultivate a sustainability mindset that results in responsible citizenship. Responsible citizens are people who will help others and the planet; respect their role in their local and global communities; and participate in activities that make the world a better place. We believe that the mindset of this responsible citizen is built upon values like kindness, compassion, personal growth, innovation, systems thinking and the knowledge, understanding and respect for the complexity and diversity of the world.

The world’s problems are positioned in a web of relationships between nature, economy, society, culture, personal well being, and more. When we educate through this perspective, we can begin to talk about, and change, destructive patterns of behaviour in order to find solutions. Education for Sustainability aims to change a student’s thought process and behaviour through a transformative practice. The principles of this practice include:
